The Dzanga Sangha forest reserve which is a great protected zone in this land of south Western Central African Republic was established in the year 1990 and spans over an area of around 6865 square kilometre is a part of the Tri national Landscape comprising of the Lobeke National park and the Nouabale Ndoki national park lying in the Republic of Congo.
This park comprises of the Dzanga Ndoki National park which has two divisions the Ndoki Park and the Dzanga Park. This Tri national Protected Area was a result of the resolution to establish a reserve within the Congo basin. This is today operated by the Central African forest Commission.
Till the year 1986 all were free to come here and shoot the game here in the forest region. The tropical forests here have been disturbed by the human activities with many trees being cut down for the people to use it for their requirements. In the year 1999, the Central African Ministry of Environment administered this reserve and the Yaoundé Declaration was signed forming an agreement between the three parks in the tri region of the reserve. Today this is operated by the COMIFAC or the Central African forest Commission. It is also funded by the WWF or the World Wildlife Fun and the Wildlife Conservation Society or the WCS. Today this reserve is a perfect zone for the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Gorillas are the mainstay of tourism here and they have for long given a lot of income for the reserve through eco tourism. This rainforest is the second larges on earth along with the Lobeke National Park and the Noubale Ndoli National park. With the River Sangha running through this zone, this is the tri park basin area which is also called the River Sangha Tri National Protected Area.
Dzanga Sangha Forest Reserve today is very ecologically rich and very verdant stretches. This place has the best mega fauna and the richest diversity. So get to see the Western Lowland Gorillas, Bongo antelopes, African Forest Elephants, white nosed and moustache monkeys, African forest Buffalos, grey cheeked mangabeys duikers, bushpigs and many different kinds of bird species.
Then there are the rodent species which include the giant rat, cane rat, and the porcupine. With the best collection of dark crowned forest eagles and the blue breasted Kingfisher and the tropical forests here have many varieties here like the rubber tree, the African tulip tree and cecropia.
Bayanga is the largest village here and the smaller ones are Kunda Papaye, Moussapoula, and Yobe. In the year 1990, Yandombe lies somewhere near the southern part of Bayanga. The main food of the people here is the cassava, peanuts, corn, Robusta coffee, papayas.
